J/80 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE

J/80 World Championship(Copenhagen, Denmark)- The KDY (Royal Danish Yacht Club) are hosting the 2021 J/80 World Championship in Copenhagen, Denmark. They have already postponed the event once due to covid-19 pandemic issues in Europe. it is now expected to be hosted in July.

"Hygge" (enjoying life's simple pleasures) isn’t everything, but...

As National Geographic so aptly explains it, “Denmark's capital has become the urban overlord of doing things the right way. They call it the happiest city in the world. So, what's the secret? Image-wise, everything in recent years seems to have gone the city's way. The omnipresence of the Danish concept hygge has helped paint it as a place of candlelit good times...”

It certainly has, and it is. But "hygge" isn’t everything. We’d like to add 1) a positive outlook and 2) sailing of course!

J/80 World Championship- Copenhagen, Denmark
Staying positive and moving ahead in our preparations
As many events have been moved into the month of September – lately even the Kiel Week we still believe that the J/80 World Championship in July will be OK. Who knows this may even be the racing season opening event! How is that for at title? We are certainly working hard in order to have all our ducks (and docks) in a row for when you get here. We are confident the J/80 Worlds will be the start of the international racing season here.

There is very strong interest in the regatta as it's an "Open" event. The entries are coming in as well are international requests for rental boats, and in the upcoming weeks you will read more about accommodation and travel arrangements as well as boat rental opportunities and you may even find out why the Spaniards cannot win the trophy – again!

J/70 European Championship Update!

J/70 Europeans logo (Skovshoved, Copenhagen, Denmark)- The Royal Danish Yacht Club is looking forward to hosting the J/70 European Championship in 2021 from June 4th to 12th, 2021. Please note the updated dates!

The event will take place at Rungsted Harbour approximately 15 km north of downtown Copenhagen. This harbour is one of three stations that Royal Danish YC manages.

The RDYC has been a strong supporter of the growth of the Danish J/70 Sailing League and their efforts have led the way for well over eighteen sailing clubs to participate. As a result, the level of competitiveness for Danish sailors has improved considerably in the J/70 class. The KDY/ RDYC have been able to achieve strong success in the SAILING Champions League in the past few years (finishing in the top 10 every year out of 36 teams); an event that has been held at the YC Costa Smeralda in Porto Cervo, Sardinia, Italy and St. Moritz Sailing Club in St. Moritz, Switzerland.

As in years past, the KDY/ RDYC are anticipating over 100 J/70 teams will be participating in the J/70 European Championships on the Baltic Sea in early June.  For more J/70 European Championship sailing and registration informationAdd to Flipboard Magazine.

J/80 Worlds Announcement!

 J/80 World Championship

(Copenhagen, Denmark)- The Royal Danish Yacht Club is looking forward to hosting the J/80 World Championship in 2021 from July 3rd to 9th, 2021. J/80 sailing is a very fundamental part of the Club.

The event will take place at Rungsted Harbour approximately 15 km north of downtown Copenhagen. This harbour is one of 3 stations that RDYC runs and it is the station where the club have its J/80 fleet. So, J/80 sailing in this part of the Öresund is huge.

The event will be run as a "sustainability regatta"; meaning among other activities, that we will work hard to minimize paper and try to make as much run electronically off solar and wind power.

And, when you are not on the water, there will be a lot of social activities near the harbour. Copenhagen is fantastic in July – just to mention Tivoli, Canal Touring, Elsinore Castle, Nyhavn and Bakken. And, for those not sailing, Copenhagen shopping is world famous. Please come join us and rejoice in sailing again on the gorgeous Baltic Sea! This regatta is an "open" event, so please come one, come all! Danish hospitality is world-famous!  Register your team here on Manage2Sail.com  For more 2021 J/80 World Championship sailing information

KDY Sharks Repeat as Danish Sailing League Champions!

 KDY royal sailing club winners

(Skovshoved, Denmark)- This past weekend, the Danish J/70 Sailing League shortened-season finale was sailed off Skovshoved with eighteen sailing clubs participating from across Denmark. The fleet was thrilled to have simply amazing weather all weekend long with great sailing on both Saturday and Sunday. In fact, sailing on Saturday was so good that the host Skovshoved Sailing Club regatta PRO managed to run nine complete flights and 27 total races! Apparently, the sailors were getting a little tired towards the end of the day at sunset!

In the end, the winners of the finale and the overall season (just 2 events) were a familiar team standing atop of the podium- the winners were the Royal Danish Yacht Club's KDY Sharks. In the past, the KDY teams would participate as just all women or all men's teams. This last regatta was the first time they sailed as a combined crew, with 2 women and 2 men.

Henrik Jensen, skipper from KDY, commented at the awards, "thank you for a good event, it's great to see how the young people storm forward, women as well, and today our mixed crew, that's the future for KDY sailing!"

In the end, the top five teams in the Danish J/70 Sailing League were Kongelig Dansk YC KDY SHARKS in first, Team Roskilde Sejklub second, Frederikshavn Sejklub SEAHAWKS Team third, Kjobenhavns Amateur Sejklub THE BOXES team in fourth, and Sonderborg YC CHIA PIRATES in fifth place.  Sailing photo credit: Frederik Sivertsen  For more Danish J/70 Sailing League informationAdd to Flipboard Magazine.

Danish J/70 Sailing League Season Premiere

Danish J/70 sailing league winners
(Aarhus, Denmark)- The K.A.S. team took the victory in the 1st division after only 5 flights, where the last one ended up being shoot-out. Aarhus International Sailing Center and Sailing Aarhus were hosts and were represented with volunteers from Kaløvig this past weekend.

The wind teased and challenged sailors and, of course, probably made a lot of people simply crazy! Saturday morning started as planned with skipper meeting and welcome to all 1st division clubs. Then followed a postponement. However, approximately 15 minutes later, the wind came creeping in across the lake. Three flights were sailed in the light wind. Sunday started calmly and with a postponement. The wind built up calmly, and by noon the sailors were sent out. The wind was surprisingly good, but died after two quick flights, and the regatta ended up being canceled for the day due to a complete "glass out" on the water.

Last weekend's event winner from the 2nd division (Youngsters ONE)- skipper Rasmus Lumbye from Sønderborg Yacht Club- had planned a close duel between the well-known teams from Frederikhavn and KDY for this year's first 1st division event. In addition, there was a mixed crew from K.A.S. that from the start stood out and took the lead. K.A.S. had not moved to the top of the leaderboard before but sailed convincingly all weekend.

K.A.S. took the competition victory by a single point over the Sønderborg "kids"! The SYC kids fought hard all weekend through the very light winds. The decision was made in a close 1:1 duel in 5 races. There is no question the SYC youth team has promising future ahead of them.

Team SEF from Svendborg Sund Sejlklub finished just 4 points behind in 3rd place, a point ahead of KDY in 4th place. Team SEF started a bit sluggish, but sailed well after that, and ended up in 3rd place after some strong performances.

For K.A.S., the victory was the ultimate culmination of a path they had been working on very hard for several years. K.A.S. has come from the bottom of the 2nd division to be able to be a competition winner in a few years. Charlotte Andersen, Head of Racing at K.A.S. commented, “in 2017 we made a decision to improve the quality of our KAP school and with the team CrewYou. We to look at their set-up and strategy. We entered with the very best sailors in Denmark, Jesper Radich and Rene Villefrance, and it is satisfying to see how our great work has borne fruit!”

From K.A.S. skipper Henrik Rask Sørensen, he commented that “the victory was fantastic despite the very difficult conditions on Aarhus Bay. The result is also thanks to the improved training conditions in K.A.S., which now led to a regatta victory!”  For more Danish J/70 Sailing League informationAdd to Flipboard Magazine.

Danish J/70 WoW Regatta Promotes Women’s Sailing

J/70 women's team sailing WOW in Denmark
(Copenhagen, Denmark)- After a great WoW (Women On Water) success in 2018, all sails were set for the second annual edition in 2019. The event was extended to 21 teams; this year WoW teams came from Portugal, Germany and Sweden to race on the Danish J/70 Sailing League boats. Host for the regatta was Sundby Sailing Club.

"For us, it's a great thing to be able to attract guests from abroad as well as from the local area, especially when there are so many other things happening around us. The community that we have in the club after a weekend like this continues for the rest of the year and we can use that weekend to bring our sailing community together in Sundby. This is also why we like to host the WoW event,” says Jesper Lorents, who sits on the board of Sundby Sailing Association and one of the key people behind the event.
J/70 women's sailing team at WOW Regatta Denmark
It was close racing at the top of the leaderboard.  The KDY (Kongelig Dansk Yachtklub) Team of PELLE P (Lotte Meldgaard Pedersen, Helle Ørum Ryhding, Anne Sofie Munk-Hansen, Henriette Koch and Tina Schmidt Gramkov) was up against a formidable crew on Hellerup Sejlklub HS WILD comprised of Klara Ekdahl, Anna Ekdahl, Clara Svensdotter, Isabell Jobson and Julia Stålberg.
J/70 women's sailing team at WOW Regatta
Despite the fact that both HS WILD and PELLE P only counted all podium finishes all weekend long, they were essentially tied going into the last race. In the crucial final race, PELLE P was leading at the bottom of the first of two windward-leeward legs. However, a bad takedown of the spinnaker enabled the HS WILD team to blow by them and win the crucial last race, with PELLE P taking second.  As a result, HS WILD won, with PELLE P in second and PLASTIC CHANGE Team in third.

The sailing was difficult for the sailors. The event started out with very heavy fog and virtually no wind, then slowly improved over the next two days. Despite the conditions, all the teams kept their fighting spirit. One thing the women were very good at was “networking”, spending a lot of team getting to know each other better during the repetitive postponements.  Follow the WoW Regattas on Facebook here   For more Danish J/70 Sailing League WoW events information Add to Flipboard Magazine.

KDY SHARKS Win Danish J/70 Sailing League

J/70s racing Danish Sailing League
(Aarhus, Denmark)- Eighteen teams participated in the intense finale of the Danish J/70 Sailing League in Aarhus, Denmark. In the end, it was the KDY SHARKS that won both the finale and the overall sailing league series.

The 4th event in Aarhus was intense and nerve-wracking and the podium was not determined until the last flight! Only one point separated first from third; that was the narrowest margin of victory, and the most intense finals, in the Danish Sailing League’s history. Winning was KDY SHARKS, while the balance of the podium was determined on a tie-breaker at 15 pts each! Winning that countback to take the silver medal were the Bandholm EAGLES with the Frederikshavn SEAHAWKS taking the bronze.

It was a record year for participation in the Danish J/70 Sailing League. The final event was held in collaboration with Sailing Aarhus Week and the surrounding clubs, Marselisborg and Kaløvig. It was the Aarhus International Sailing Sports Center that hosted the regatta, a fabulous facility that provided a great base for the regatta right on the waterfront… it was perfect for the spectators as the races often started and finished just a few meters off the sailing center.
KDY SHARKS win J/70 Denmark
KDY was under pressure in a tougher field
Skipper Henrik Jensen explained how the field in the Sailing Sports League is still rising and that, increasingly, it is getting harder to remain at the top of the field.

Henrik elaborated, “It has been an incredibly even and very close event, where many teams have had the opportunity to take a podium. This event also had an incredibly decisive significance in the overall result. The winning strategy, the winter training and the great experience of the team helped KDY win the gold. Everything was moving in our direction and even though we had several considerations about tactical sailing against our close competitors, we had to focus most on our own sailing.”

“New kids on the block” on the podium
“It's so crazy,” said skipper Bo Schülein. “There is no doubt that the sailors from Bandholm still think it is a bit unreal that they ended up taking silver in the overall position over Frederikshavn, Kaløvig and other club teams that dominated the 2019 season. We are so proud that a small club like Bandholm Sailing Club with only 35-40 members can sail against the country's absolute biggest clubs in the country. We still can't quite understand it!”

The champions kept the excitement to the last
With two 4th places over the season and an awful 5th place for this 4th event, it was the season's last flights that were crucial for the former masters from Frederikshavn SEAHAWKS. It started out really well for the team for the event in Aarhus with just 1sts and 2nds in the first five flights. From there, they had to struggle to hold on to the podium. They came close to winning, but ended up tied on points for second place, just one point down from the KDY SHARKS.  Follow the Danish J/70 Sailing League on Facebook here  For more Danish J/70 Sailing League information Add to Flipboard Magazine.

Kalovig COBRAS Top Danish J/70 Sailing League

J/70s sailing Danish Sailing League
(Lynaes, Denmark)- The Danish J/70 Sailing League season started this past weekend at Lynæs Sail & Kayak Club. Eighteen of the country's best club teams in the 1st division were ready to go racing off the small town of Lynæs at the tip of Halsnæs.

With the entire fleet elevating their game and level of play, any small mistake was going to be expensive.  Even for the ultimate winners, the Kalovig COBRAS, who started with five first places in Saturday's first 5 races, a 5th place in the 6th race contributed to the Aarhus team ending in a shared 1st place after Saturday's races with the Frederikshavn SEAHAWKS.
J/70 Danish sailing league team
In the end, the Kalovig COBRAS won the regatta, closing out with a 3-1-5-1-1 to win by just 2 points.  Their skipper, Lars Vilhelmsen, commented on their weekend victory, “we have been really excited about the start of the season this year. It was awesome to start out with a whole bunch of first places; we really felt that the training and the Champions League regatta had borne fruit. The weekend also showed that we are making few mistakes. However, they cost just as much more points than they might be! This means that we now have to go home and work to keep the high level.” The Kaløvig Cobras team consisted of Lars Vilhelmsen, Sophus Jarvig, Jesper Vogelios, Nikolaj Tidemann. The average age of the very young team was approximately 22 years old!

YOUNGSTERS II Takes Danish Youth League Act III

Danish J/70 Youth team (Skovshoved, Denmark)- The Danish J/70 Sailing League created their Youth League two years ago and it continues to grow in popularity with young kids at sailing clubs across Denmark.  The combination of young girls and boys competing on the water and socializing ashore has made it fun and exciting for them. Last weekend, they enjoyed great sailing with racing managed by the Skovshoved Sailing Club.

This year, it was the YOUNGSTER II team that won the event at Skovshoved- the second time they have done so. The team consists of brothers Jeppe & Nikolaj Borch, Amanda Ulmdal, Mathias Rossing and Nikolaj Rasmussen.

The skipper- Jeppe Borch- talked about the close sailing they experienced over the weekend, “it was very close sailing each day.  In fact, we did not win until we beat the SUNDBY MARLINS in the last race, on the last run to the finish! We luckily pulled the longest straw!  Thank goodness! The SUNDBY MARLINS got a few penalties at the start, so we got a little distance on them right from the beginning. It was great that we could finish the weekend standing at the top of the podium!”

The second place SUNDBY MARLINS, consisting of Josefine Boel Rasmussen, Kristian Schaldemose, Søren Andersen and Marc Wain, beat their previous best position in the Youth League by taking a podium for the competition. Before the competition, the team hoped for lots of fun and good wind, and they got what they came for!

SUNDBY’s female skipper- Josefine Boel Rasmussen- said that, "we were happy with the weekend. Our not so good results in some races were mainly due to our mistakes or situations where we had fouled other teams. So, when we managed to get off with free wind, it was good to sail the boat fast, get a few good wind shifts, and hit it right, even winning some races!”

With only one point separating the other teams on the podium, the game was a tough battle through the final race. The BANDHOLM WHITETAILED EAGLES team, that included skipper Bo Schulein, Ole Lindberg, Christian Torp and Peter Ammundsen, ended up landing on the podium at the last minute, even though they nearly threw away that opportunity several times. Sunday’s last race 4th place was due to the fact they had to do circles to exonerate themselves from a penalty incurred during the race; had they taken 5th, they would have finished 5th!

The balance of the top five included the DTU SAIL RACING TEAM in 4th place and the THURO PIRATES in 5th position.  Follow the Danish J/70 Youth Sailing League here on Facebook  For Danish Youth Sailing League video highlights  For more Danish J/70 Sailing League information Add to Flipboard Magazine.

Women On Water (WOW) Regatta Preview

Women on Water team sailing J/70 (Sundby, Denmark)- The WOW organization has now joined the Danish J/70 Sailing League and will have their first event in Sundby, Denmark from September 22nd to 23rd.  The format will be the same as the open sailing league, eighteen teams of five women on board each boat, with teams rotating on each flight.

“WOW is expecting to get more women on the water, securing the next generation of girl sailors, and creating strong networks among women,” says Josefine Boel. "There has been a lot of support, from Sundby Sailing Association there are two teams. Henriette and I sailed a major European event last year, where there were more women. And, then we talked about how we get more women with in this.  When we spoke to the Danish Sailing League organizers, we created the WOW concept and created this event. We hoped for ten teams, but ended up with eighteen, and we even have four on waiting list! It's very overwhelming!”

J/70 womens sailing teamThe WOW concept is off to a flying start. Over 200 women have joined the network - and it does not stop there.

"Both Henriette Koch and I have an elite sailing background, but it was not what we wanted. The most important thing is to get more women sailing,” said Josefine. “Henriette is somewhat older than me, and she was the one girl I looked up to, she often beat all the boys.  I have seen many girlfriends stop sailing because they did not fit into the elite and Olympic sailing environment. There are many skilled young girls. But, there are no fun opportunities (or divisions like in soccer) for those who are not the top five percent. That is what we will try to improve. So, this is not just about sailing, but just as much to have fun, get together, and help each other. We tried to mix the teams, so there are veterans- including Dorte Jensen with a host of Olympic campaigns behind her- and young girls mixed together," continued Josefine.

J/70 WOW- Women on Water sailing teamDorthe Alvang is part of one WOW team in Sundby. She was born on the island and sailed in Roskilde before she returned to Amager. And, she has missed such an initiative women. Said Dorthe, ”I’m what you can call an ordinary sailor, there are lots of us! There is not much activity in sailing for women.  So, if you do not go all-in, there are not many opportunities to go sailing on a small sailboat.  For this WOW event, I formed a team with other women better than me. So, now we train for the competition every weekend. It is often the case in sailing that the men are very active and the women are so strangely withdrawn. So this is a perfect way to turn it up a bit and get out on the water!”

The WOW organizers invite women to the WOW meeting on Thursday, September 20th, entitled "Women on the Podium”, at HORTEN Lawyers in Tuborg Harbor.

"I've learned more about team dynamics by sailing than by going to work over the years. I have used my sailing experiences a lot in my work life. And, this is about focusing on the fact that there are too few women represented in boards and management positions in Danish businesses. Subsequently, the participants from the Thursday meeting are invited to sail at the WOW event in Sundby the following weekend. Here the participants could get a ride on a J/70 with some of Europe's best women sailors; and, further the opportunity to strengthen their network. So, it's not just about sailing together, but also helping each other in relation to the things we do- networking and collaboration," explains Josefine.

KDY SHARKS Lead J/70 Danish Sailing League

Danish J/70 sailing league action (Skovshoved, Denmark)- This past weekend, the Skovshoved Sailing Club, together with the Danish Sailing League, hosted the third of four events in their season series off Skovshoved.  The eighteen teams that were participating had good weather all three days.

J/70 Danish Sailing League actionKALØVIG COBRAS made a big jump in the last day and secured 2nd place as they got two bullets in the last two races. Dramatic Win for ENFANT TERRIBLE @ J/70 Europeans

http://www.jboats.com/j70 (Vigo, Spain)- Final day, final race, final leg.  The dueling leaders fought a titanic struggle right to the finish line.  The protagonists were Alberto Rossi’s ENFANT TERRIBLE and Peter Duncan’s RELATIVE OBSCURITY.  Tied going into the final race, who-beat-who would win the championship.  On the final run to the finish, it was Rossi’s ENFANT TERRIBLE crew that proved their toughness, winning the race, with Duncan’s RELATIVE OBSCURITY taking second.  One could not conceivably write such an insane script to this Hollywood ending.  Needless to say, it will be “party-time” back in Ancona, Italy at the Rossi family household!

J/70 European winner- Alberto Rossia and daughter Claudia celebrating with a swimSixty-nine teams from fifteen countries sailed the 2018 J/70 Class Open European Championship and 2018 J/70 Corinthian Class European Championship. The Real Club Náutico de Vigo in conjunction with the International J/70 Class Association, and J/70 Spanish Class Association organized the event.  Thirteen races were sailed over five days, racing in the stunning Ria de Vigo on the Atlantic coast of Northwest Spain. The Real Club Náutico de Vigo rose to the occasion and rolled out the red carpet for all sailors; it was a fabulous week of sailing and socializing on the western Spanish Riviera!

J/70 Europeans winners- Enfant Terrible- Alberto Rossi“We sailed well as a team and technically speaking and we had a lot of fun, which is the best way to win,” commented Alberto Rossi. “We made a good recovery and we realized the win was possible only in the last race. We are thrilled that the trophy will be going back home with us. Enfant Terrible has won the TP52 Worlds and the Farr 40 Worlds. Both Claudia's team and mine will be in Marblehead, USA trying to win the 2018 J/70 World Championships, we are father and daughter, but we are very competitive with each other. I will also be competing in the Farr 40 Worlds in Chicago this year. I still love the Farr 40 Class and it has many similarities with the J/70; great racing, highly competitive, and a lot of fun,” commented Alberto Rossi- skipper of ENFANT TERRIBLE.

“Congratulations to Alberto and his team, they sailed very well,” commented RELATIVE OBSCURITY’s Peter Duncan. “We did not perform well towards the end of the regatta and we paid the price. I must say, a big THANK YOU to the organizers, this was a well-organized event both on and off the water, and we have been made very welcome. I am sure we will see some of the top European teams in Marblehead for the Worlds. It is a venue that can give a big variety of conditions, and there will be some very competitive American teams racing.”

J/70 Europeans Corinthians winnersLuis Bugallo's “Marnatura” (ESP) is the 2018 J/70 European Corinthian champion. Bugallo's team (Enrique Freire Faria, Gerardo Prego Menor, Alberto Basadre López, Jorge Lorenzo Romás) representing the host club, Real Club Nautico de Vigo was third in the Open Class. Luis is just 22 years old and is born and bred in Vigo.

“The team has been fantastic, nearly all of us are under 25. In the last race we had to take a big risk, and it paid off, we are so very happy to win the Corinthian Class in our home Vigo!”

Runner-up for the Corinthian Class was Paolo Tomsic's Società Nautica Grignano (ITA) and completing the podium was Luis Pérez Canal's Abril Verde (ESP) from the host club, Real Club Nautico de Vigo.   Final day- YouTube sailing video highlights   Follow and share the J/70 Europeans here on Facebook   For more J/70 European Championship sailing information Add to Flipboard Magazine.

KDY Tops Women’s SAILING Champions League

J/70s sailing Women's SAILING Champions League- Kiel, Germany (Kiel, Germany)- The inaugural Women’s SAILING Champions League took place at Kieler Woche in northern Germany on the southeastern part of the Baltic Sea. With 10 teams from six nations, the Royal Danish Yacht Club (KDY) and Hellerup Sejlklub made it a one-two victory for Denmark.

J/70 Women's SAILING Champions League winnersKongelig Dansk Yachtclub, aka the Royal Danish Yacht Club, won the inaugural event of the brand-new Women’s SAILING Champions League. Over the three days of the regatta which took place from June 16th to 18th June during Kieler Woche, two Danish crews dominated the league racing in J/70 keelboats. There were all kinds of weather conditions over the three days, but the final day saw spectacular conditions with a southwesterly breeze blowing at 11 to 13 knots.

Each team competed in 20 races across the three days, and the Royal Danish Yacht Club rarely finished out of the top two in any race. Strangely, the final heat proved to be their worst score, although that 4th place didn’t matter because the crew with skipper Henriette Koch, Anne-Sofie Munk-Hansen, Tina Schmidt Gramkov, Helle Ørum Ryhding and Lotte Meldgaard Pedersen had already notched up a commanding lead in the standings.

It’s great to be the winning team in the first event. On top of that, I think it’s brilliant to finally have a women’s sailing championship!”

Hellerup Sejlklub (Trine Abrahamsen, Christina Otzen, Katrine Munch Ejlev, Ida Hartvig, & Lærke Marie Sørensen) finished in second place. Both Danish teams were some way ahead of the chasing pack that were focused on who would grab the final podium place going into the last heat of the competition.

J/70s Women's SAILING Champions League- Kiel, GermanyA first place in the last race gave Akademischer Segelverein Warnemünde team (Johanna Meier, Carolin Junker, Pia Sophie Wedemeyer, Andrea Aachenbach, Lisa Schälke) third place overall, just one point ahead of fellow German team from Deutscher Touring Yacht Club (Laura Fischer, Anna Seidl, Mareike Weber, Monika Linder, Linda Weber) that finished on equal points with Dutch entry International Yacht Club Amsterdam (Rikst Dijkstra, Fettje Osinga, Milah Wouters, Irena Doets, Sanne Crum).

Nynne Desirée Ammundsen from ISLA (International Sailing League Association) said, “It’s been a blast! Following 50 competitive women on 10 teams from different nations sailing in Kiel is a really good start. This is only the beginning. We have established a strong base and a solid foundation to make sure the Women’s SAILING Champions League concept goes from strength to strength. Having sailors from different nations, classes, levels and ages is exactly what ISLA is working towards, developing the league format. It’s great to see sailors respond so positively to this format.”
